About the position

The Senior Systems & Application Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing robust IT systems for a leading wholesale distributor in the commercial food service industry. This role focuses on ensuring system performance, security, and cost-effectiveness while collaborating with various stakeholders to meet business needs through customized applications and system integrations.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust and scalable IT systems considering performance, security, and cost-effectiveness.
• Configure and maintain servers, networks, and storage systems.
• Troubleshoot system issues and performance bottlenecks with strong analytical skills.
• Work closely with IT service providers and internal stakeholders to ensure security and compliance.
• Develop and customize applications to meet specific business needs.
• Integrate systems such as WMS (Latitude), CRM (Goldmine), and data warehouse (QlikSense moving toward Birst).
• Migrate data between systems, including complex migrations from legacy systems.
• Automate processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.

Requirements

• Strong expertise in system administration, network engineering, and application development.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or similar.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including Actian pSQL (Elliott database), Legacy language such as VB6, and Crystal Reports.
• Understanding of business processes and the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
