About the position

As a Senior Systems Engineer for Ground Network at Sierra Space, you will play a crucial role in researching, architecting, modeling, simulating, testing, certifying, and improving advanced products and services. This position involves developing complex system architectures and managing them through the product lifecycle, ensuring that the systems meet customer capabilities and performance needs while adhering to security requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing customer capability and performance needs to define ground network and related mission solutions.
  • Developing ground network requirements, defining interfaces, conducting technical trades, and preparing CONOPS.
  • Developing integration and test plans for ground network systems and participating in V&V activities and demonstrations.
  • Working with ground software teams to develop CI/CD pipelines for ground infrastructure and application deployment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline and typically 10 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Knowledge of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or higher in related field of study.
  • Ability to create and implement automated CI/CD pipeline-based DevSecOps systems.
  • Experience deploying and debugging cloud infrastructures.
  • Familiarity with the Risk Management Framework and US Government cybersecurity requirements for ground system architectures and software development.
  • Experience with Requirements Management and Model Based Systems Engineering tools, such as DOORS, CAMEO EA, Rhapsody, Matlab and SysML.
  • Experience with Agile development methods, processes, and tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc).
  • Knowledge of Python, Java, Ruby, Bash, C++, C#, or Go programming languages.
  • Experience with SW unit and/or automated testing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to conduct project reviews and develop technical documentation.
