About the position

Leidos is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with extensive integration experience to join a high-performing Agile team that utilizes the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology. This role is critical in supporting a large, fast-paced program that is focused on developing new technologies and enhancing existing capabilities while maintaining ongoing mission support. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing system engineering expertise across various domains, including architecture, design, development, requirements analysis, data flow, network design/implementation, testing, and documentation. The position requires a high level of in-depth expertise to design and develop new capabilities for complex systems with stringent interface, performance, and security requirements. The engineer will analyze user requirements and system architecture, develop system architecture and design documentation, and support the development of system configuration documentation. This includes capacity and performance planning, risk assessments, and analyses of alternatives for various system-related issues. Additionally, the engineer will assist in creating test procedures and defining task success criteria, ensuring that all engineering practices adhere to the necessary rigor. Candidates must possess an active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance to be considered for this role. The position offers a competitive salary range and additional incentives, including a potential cash sign-on bonus or paid time off bonus. The successful candidate will work closely with program management, system and software integration engineers, test engineers, and information assurance engineers in an Agile environment, actively participating in program increment planning and related team activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and support for system engineering of large-scale systems and major system elements in a complex network environment.
  • Update System Engineering Documentation as required.
  • Provide Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) or similar evaluation methodologies.
  • Interface with Program Management, System and Software Integration Engineers, Test Engineers, Information Assurance Engineers, and other project team members in an Agile environment.
  • Develop and implement system engineering practices ensuring proper engineering rigor is applied to all assigned tasks.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with internal technical professionals and customer representatives.
  • Actively participate in program increment planning and related Agile team activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in system engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 12 to 15 years of related experience, with additional experience substituting for a degree.
  • In-depth experience in system architecture, design and development, requirements analysis, data flow design/analysis, network design/implementation, testing, and technical system documentation.
  • At least 7 years of experience working with network design or foundational networking.
  • At least 7 years of experience in system architecture design, building, and integration.
  • At least 7 years of experience with infrastructure components (Servers, Switches, Firewalls, and other Enterprise Infrastructure hardware).
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Senior Architect working on large complex system architectures.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience building and maintaining Windows and Linux systems.
  • Experience with requirements verification traceability.
  • Experience analyzing user requirements, system architecture, and/or system requirements specifications.

  • Hands-on experience with hardware and software maintenance.

  • Experience with model-based systems engineering.
  • Experience with risk management/risk register.
