Sr. Systems Engineer

About the position

Visa Technology & Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Sr. Systems Engineer (multiple openings) in Highlands Ranch, CO to provide Infrastructure Operations and Production Support of container technologies and orchestration platforms. The role involves performing Docker/Kubernetes deployment, configuration, scaling, and management of containerized applications, hardening and securing the Kubernetes cluster with monitoring and auditing dashboards, and explaining technical concepts while providing guidance to staff. The engineer will partner with the Platform, Engineering and Delivery Teams to deliver seamless infrastructure support for all Visa business lines, work on the Security Remediation process (vulnerability assessment and patch management), contribute to standardized operating procedures, and ensure adherence to established ITIL practices such as Incident, Change, Problem, and Release Management. The position requires being scheduled On-Call to support the infrastructure and systems, and it reports to the Highlands Ranch, Colorado office with potential for partial telecommuting.

Responsibilities

• Provide Infrastructure Operations and Production Support of container technologies and orchestration platforms.
• Perform Docker/Kubernetes deployment, configuration, scaling, and management of containerized applications.
• Harden and secure the Kubernetes cluster with monitoring and auditing dashboards.
• Explain technical concepts and provide guidance to staff.
• Partner with the Platform, Engineering and Delivery Teams to deliver seamless infrastructure support for all Visa business lines.
• Work on the Security Remediation process (vulnerability assessment and patch management).
• Contribute to standardized operating procedures.
• Ensure adherence to established ITIL practices such as Incident, Change, Problem, and Release Management.
• Be scheduled On-Call to support the infrastructure and systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a systems engineer or support engineer related occupation.
• 1 year of hands-on experience with On-Prem container Infrastructure.
• 1 year of Linux Systems Administration.
• 2 years of Scripting experience with Shell, Python, Ansible, Terraform and YAML packages.
• Experience with configuration management tools, such as Chef, Ansible, or Terraform.
• Working with tools surrounding the Kubernetes ecosystem, such as helm, kubeadm, CSI, or CNI.
• CI/CD or GitOps pipeline Architecture experience, including ArgoCD, Code Fresh, and Jenkins.
• Experience with infrastructure technologies, such as HP and DELL hardware (Rack servers).
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Graphana, Fluentbit, Netcool, and Humio.
• Experience with microservices based applications traffic routing, including Istio ServiceMesh.
• Understanding of networking concepts.
