About the position

As a Senior Systems Engineer at Target, you will play a crucial role in ensuring high equipment availability and optimizing system performance within the supply chain facility. This position involves using preventive and predictive maintenance processes, troubleshooting equipment breakdowns, and leading initiatives for building automation and continuous improvement. You will also serve as a technical subject matter expert, monitoring the health of material handling equipment and training internal technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure high equipment availability and optimize system performance.
  • Use preventive and predictive maintenance processes to maintain equipment.
  • Rapidly troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and restore service.
  • Work with engineers and operational partners to optimize material handling equipment performance.
  • Lead building automation, continuous improvement, and new installation initiatives.
  • Serve as an escalated support resource during downtime events.
  • Monitor the overall health of the building's material handling equipment.
  • Conduct technical interviews for technician candidates and evaluate their skills.
  • Train and coach internal technicians on maintenance and safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Two or four-year Degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering or equivalent degree/experience.
  • Industrial electrical hands-on experience and troubleshooting, including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems.
  • Experience with installing and maintaining various types of software and hardware.
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills with a drive for results.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automated conveyor systems and controls.
  • Familiarity with work order management systems.
  • Knowledge of preventive/predictive maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Experience with HMI interfaces and programming.
  • Knowledge of industrial controls and electronics.
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Control (PLC) programs.
  • Familiarity with server-based controls and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
