About the position

As a Senior Systems Site Reliability Engineer at Forcepoint, you will play a critical role in ensuring the availability, reliability, security, and performance of our mission-critical services. Your primary focus will be on identifying and solving problems related to these services, as well as building automation to prevent the recurrence of issues. This position requires a deep understanding of both traditional and cloud infrastructures, as well as hands-on experience with coding languages and core SRE practices and methodologies. You will be responsible for designing and maintaining secure, scalable, and highly available architectures for both on-premises and cloud-hosted environments. In this role, you will leverage your vast experience in the administration, build, and management of ESX and VMware systems, as well as your knowledge of various storage platforms and concepts. A strong understanding of Active Directory, Azure AD, GPO policies, and authentication is essential, along with hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services or equivalent public cloud technology. You will also need to demonstrate a solid understanding of networking concepts, security architecture, and certificate management. Your responsibilities will include creating flowcharts, diagrams, and other documentation to support your work, as well as benchmarking application and service performance and designing scalable systems and APIs. You will be expected to have a proactive approach to problem-solving, developing automated solutions to prevent recurring issues, and optimizing current procedures and processes. Additionally, you will be involved in the configuration management of platforms and cloud management automation tools, ensuring that our systems are efficient and effective.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and solve problems relating to mission-critical services.
  • Build automation to prevent problem recurrence.
  • Focus on maximum availability, reliability, security, and performance for Forcepoint services.
  • Design and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available architectures for on-prem and cloud-hosted environments.
  • Understand and apply Agile Systems Engineering practices.
  • Administer, build, and manage ESX and VMware systems.
  • Manage a range of storage platforms and concepts.
  • Understand and implement Active Directory, Azure AD, and GPO policies.
  • Work with cloud-based architecture and operations, particularly AWS or equivalent public cloud technology.
  • Understand and apply networking concepts and theories.
  • Manage security architecture and certificate management.
  • Utilize infrastructure and application monitoring platforms.
  • Implement core DevOps practices including CI/CD pipeline and release management.
  • Manage configuration management platforms like Chef, Puppet, or Ansible.
  • Utilize cloud management automation tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Manage source code and API automation.
  • Create documentation including flowcharts and diagrams.
  • Benchmark application and service performance and design scalable systems and APIs.

Requirements

  • Broad background in traditional and cloud infrastructures.
  • Direct experience with coding languages and core SRE practices.
  • Experience in administration, build, and management of ESX and VMware systems.
  • Experience with various storage platforms and concepts such as Dell Compellent and Pure.
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory, Azure AD, and GPO policies.
  • Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services or equivalent public cloud technology.
  • Strong understanding of Infrastructure and Platform Technology stacks.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and theories.
  • Understanding of security architecture and certificate management.
  • Working knowledge of monitoring platforms such as Grafana Cloud and DataDog.
  • Understanding of core DevOps practices including CI/CD pipeline.
  • Experience with configuration management platforms like Chef, Puppet, or Ansible.
  • Experience with cloud management automation tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience with source code management software and API automation.
  • Service availability-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to create flowcharts, diagrams, and other documentation.
  • Knowledge of container tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience supporting Linux systems.
