About the position

As a Senior Tax Accountant at The Friedkin Group, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with federal and state tax regulations for various entities, including S and C Corporations, Partnerships, Trusts, Not-for-Profit Organizations, and Individuals. Your primary responsibilities will involve the preparation and review of income and franchise tax returns, requiring a thorough understanding of tax laws and regulations. You will gather and analyze financial information to calculate tax adjustments, ensuring that all data is accurately reported according to tax form instructions. This position demands meticulous attention to detail as you will prepare supporting work papers, maintain tax files, and review tax returns to ensure compliance and accuracy. In your daily activities, you will download computerized general ledger information into Excel spreadsheets, converting this data for use in tax return preparation software. You will also prepare data requests for third-party providers and analyze tax items for reporting purposes. Effective communication and coordination with accounting personnel and controllers will be essential to resolve any questions or issues that arise during data analysis. Additionally, you will assist in the preparation of quarterly taxable income estimates and year-end calculations for all companies, as well as research taxation issues related to various entities and shareholders. Your role will also involve assisting with the annual and quarterly ASC 740 tax provision, which includes gathering and analyzing source data. You will support accountants in reviewing the categorization and coordination of unique transactions and contribute to various special projects. Corresponding with tax authorities regarding notices and assisting in the detailed review of items prepared by Tax Accountants will also be part of your responsibilities. Responsibilities

  • Perform tax compliance work and research for various entities including S and C Corporations, Partnerships, Trusts, Not-for-Profit Organizations, and Individuals.
  • Prepare and review federal and state income and franchise tax returns for all affiliated companies.
  • Gather and analyze financial information and tax rules to calculate tax adjustments.
  • Read tax form instructions to ensure accurate reporting of information.
  • Prepare supporting work papers and maintain tax files.
  • Download computerized general ledger information into Excel spreadsheets and convert data for tax return preparation software.
  • Process tax returns and prepare data requests for third-party providers.
  • Communicate and coordinate with accounting personnel/controllers to resolve questions or issues arising from data analysis.
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly taxable income estimates and year-end calculations for all companies.
  • Research issues relating to taxation of various entities and shareholders.
  • Assist with annual and quarterly ASC 740 tax provision, including gathering and analyzing source data.
  • Assist accountants in reviewing categorization and coordination of unique transactions.
  • Assist with various special projects and correspond with tax authorities regarding notices.
  • Assist with the detailed review of items prepared by Tax Accountants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university.
  • 5-7 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in One Source tax software (preferred).
  • Significant experience with the preparation of various tax returns and readiness for detailed review (preferred).
  • Insurance industry and ASC 740 experience (preferred).
  • Achievement-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Capability to coordinate several projects simultaneously and accept significant responsibility.
  • Organized and able to work independently without close supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Professional demeanor and effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong workpaper techniques and proficiency with current accounting and specialized tax computer applications.
  • Enthusiastic and willing to learn.
  • Ability to oversee one or more processes and apply common sense.
