About the position

Cypress Creek Renewables is seeking a diligent and highly motivated Sr. Tax Accountant to join our growing tax department. This role is crucial in meeting the Company's tax compliance and reporting needs, particularly in the direct tax area. The ideal candidate will be a team player with experience in tax return preparation and tax provision, possessing a solid understanding of common tax rules and regulations, as well as knowledge of accounting principles. The Sr. Tax Accountant will be responsible for maintaining various tax-related trackers, coordinating the timely filing of federal, state, and local income tax returns, and managing fixed assets using Sage Fixed Assets. Additionally, the role involves preparing California SMLLC returns, assisting in quarterly partnership taxable income projections, conducting tax research, and resolving tax notices and audits. The candidate will also be expected to identify process improvements and implement best practices within the tax department. This position requires a detail-oriented, resourceful, and organized individual who can handle multiple projects with competing priorities and work effectively under tight deadlines. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse personalities are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the master tax filing tracker, correspondence tracker, and payment tracker.
  • Maintain the Company's organizational chart.
  • Assist with coordinating and ensuring the timely filing of the Company's federal, state, and local income tax returns, including reviewing workpapers prepared by external service providers.
  • Manage Fixed Assets with Sage Fixed Assets.
  • Prepare CA SMLLC returns and business licenses renewal filing.
  • Assist in preparing quarterly partnership taxable income projections.
  • Assist with tax research projects and preparing memos.
  • Assist in the resolution of federal, state, and local tax notices and audits.
  • Identify process improvements for various tax processes and implement changes for best practices.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Requirements

  • BS in Accounting or Tax (or related major).
  • CPA license preferred, Sage FAS experience preferred.
  • 3 plus years of tax experience including the above duties.
  • Must be detail-oriented, resourceful, and organized.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Superior interpersonal abilities and a team player.
  • Ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactful, mature, and flexible.
  • Must ask appropriate questions when faced with difficulties.
  • Must be a self-starter who handles multiple projects with competing priorities with minimum supervision.
