About the position

Join the Amazon Software Builder Experience Learning (ASBX Learning) team to create engaging and effective learning experiences that power all software builders at Amazon. This is a highly collaborative role where you will partner with a variety of subject matter experts to create learning experiences that guide builders through their journey at Amazon, from onboarding to pushing the boundaries of innovation. In this fast-paced environment, you will be responsible for developing online learning experiences that align with Amazon's rapidly changing technologies. You will collaborate with ABSX Learning Product Managers to design the right learning experiences, which includes conducting learning needs assessments, building learning personas, and establishing learning goals. Your role will also involve partnering with subject matter experts to translate learning needs into engaging and effective learning content. You will obsess over the learner experience, leading with empathy and designing with purpose to ensure builders reach their learning goals. This includes effectively evaluating and maintaining content to continuously improve learning experiences based on feedback from builders. Your extensive experience in software development and technical training development will be crucial in developing the right learning experiences and solutions for our customers. A typical day will involve developing learning experiences of various modalities, utilizing your expertise in instructional design, and ensuring that stakeholders, teammates, and leadership are well-informed about timelines and milestones. You will also develop course design strategies with the curriculum development team to ensure the adoption of best practices and achievement of effective results. The Amazon Software Builder Experience (ASBX) organization aims to create the world's best builder experience for tens of thousands of software engineers across all Amazon businesses, including AWS and Amazon Stores. The ASBX learning team is dedicated to creating and delivering technical learning for Amazon's engineering and software builder community, providing engineers and leaders with the information they need to build products and services that delight customers. This role presents an opportunity to join a fast-paced team focused on delivering innovative learner-centered content for engineers at Amazon. Responsibilities

  • Create online learning experiences on Amazon's rapidly changing technologies.
  • Collaborate with ABSX Learning Product Managers to design effective learning experiences.
  • Conduct learning needs assessments and build learning personas and goals.
  • Partner with subject matter experts to translate learning needs into engaging content.
  • Evaluate and maintain content to continuously improve learning experiences based on feedback.
  • Develop learning experiences of various modalities using instructional design expertise.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, teammates, and leadership regarding timelines and milestones.
  • Develop course design strategies with the curriculum development team to ensure best practices are adopted.
  • Experiment with new and emerging modalities to enhance learning methods.
  • Work with technical employees at all levels to design, develop, and maintain technical learning content.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of proven experience developing learning experiences for technical audiences, engineers, or related technical roles.
  • 7+ years of proven experience in communicating status and gaining agreement with global stakeholders.
  • 10 years of writing learning resources for a technical audience focused on need-to-know topics.
  • 7+ years using data to measure learning effectiveness.
  • 7+ years using data and learner input to improve learning experiences.
  • 5+ years of proficiency in authoring using Articulate 360, RISE, or other learning platforms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in using tools like Vyond, Camtasia, or the Adobe creative suite.
  • Experience planning and managing multiple parallel projects.
  • Experience in writing scripts for talking head or animated video content.
  • Experience with onboarding programs for new hires.
