About the position

As a Senior Technical Account Manager (TAM) at Amazon Web Services (AWS), you will play a pivotal role in supporting our National Security customers by providing strategic technical guidance and advocacy. This position is not a sales role; instead, it focuses on being the voice of the customer and ensuring they derive maximum value from AWS services. You will engage with customers across various technologies, including Compute, Storage, Database, Machine Learning, AI, Big Data, Security, Networking, and Serverless solutions. Your expertise will help customers adopt and utilize AWS services effectively, including EC2, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, Lambda, SageMaker, and more. In this role, you will be responsible for crafting and executing strategies that drive customer adoption of AWS services. You will leverage your technical acumen and customer-facing skills to represent AWS within customer environments, facilitating discussions with senior leadership regarding incidents, trade-offs, support, and risk management. Your close relationships with customers will enable you to understand their operational needs and technical challenges, allowing you to provide tailored solutions that keep their AWS environments operationally healthy. The TAM is central to delivering value to our National Security customers, and you will be at the forefront of innovation in this capacity. This position requires a commitment to travel, estimated at 10% or more, as needed to meet customer requirements. Additionally, candidates must be U.S. citizens and possess an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph to qualify for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic technical guidance and advocacy to National Security customers.
  • Craft and execute strategies to drive customer adoption of AWS services.
  • Represent AWS within customer environments and facilitate discussions with senior leadership.
  • Understand customer operational needs and technical challenges to provide tailored solutions.
  • Proactively keep customers' AWS environments operationally healthy.
  • Engage with customers across various technologies including Compute, Storage, Database, and more.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of technical engineering experience in operational parameters and troubleshooting for Compute, Storage, Networking, Databases, AI/ML, DevOps, Big Data, Security, or Applications Development in a distributed systems environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, or related discipline, or 5 years of equivalent work experience.
  • Internal enterprise or external customer-facing experience as a technical lead.
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Nice-to-haves

  • 7+ years of technical engineering experience in operational parameters and troubleshooting for three or more of the following: Compute, Storage, Networking, Databases, DevOps, Big Data, Security, or Applications Development.
  • Experience in Information Technology operations.
  • Professional oral and written communication skills, presenting to decision makers.
  • Experience in a 24x7 operational services or support environment.
  • Experience with AWS services and/or other cloud offerings.
