About the position
The Sr. Technical Accountant at Neo4j will play a crucial role in applying GAAP revenue recognition principles in a dynamic environment. This position involves auditing customer contracts, providing guidance on contract structuring, advising on accounting implications of sales changes, and interpreting new accounting standards. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with various teams and external advisors to ensure compliance and efficiency in accounting operations.
Responsibilities
- Audit customer contracts to verify transactions have been accurately recorded in the Company's ERP system in accordance with ASC 606 revenue recognition requirements.
- Provide guidance to the sales organization regarding structuring customer contracts to optimize bookings and revenue.
- Advise revenue operations and product teams about potential accounting implications associated with changes in sales and pricing.
- Propose solutions that balance business needs with revenue recognition and accounting operations efficiency.
- Interpret new accounting standards impacting the Company and document the adoption method in technical accounting memos.
- Document new accounting processes and procedures.
- Maintain the Company's existing technical accounting, process and procedure policies.
- Assist in preparation of the annual financial statements and related footnote disclosures.
- Support the 409(a) valuation process.
- Participate in process improvement and ad hoc projects as needed.
Requirements
- CPA designation required
- 4+ years experience in the audit function of a public accounting firm, preferably Big4
- 3+ years of experience in revenue recognition principles, including ASC606, for Software as a Service (SaaS) companies
- Knowledge of PCAOB audit and compliance requirements
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
- Experience working in global organizations
- Netsuite experience highly desirable
- Advanced MS Excel/Google Sheet skills
