About the position

The Sr Product Manager at United Airlines is a leadership role focused on driving the adoption and road mapping of Enterprise Integration technologies and processes. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and business acumen to support the organization’s goals through innovative integration solutions. The role involves collaboration with various teams to define strategies, manage product backlogs, and ensure the delivery of high-quality integration platforms that enhance operational efficiency and support real-time business applications.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the adoption and road mapping of Enterprise Integration technologies and processes across the organization.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to Digital Technology leadership regarding integration solutions and enterprise messaging.
  • Deliver integration solutions to support highly resilient real-time business applications.
  • Define and own the product backlog based on feature improvements and user community feedback.
  • Develop and own the product roadmap for integration platforms in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Define and prioritize feature improvements for enterprise capabilities and specific business unit needs.
  • Develop a strategy for existing API Management and Messaging solution migrations with a 2-3 year implementation plan.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise architects and other teams to define API management and messaging vision and execution plans.
  • Define operating models for governing APIs and Events across the enterprise.
  • Engage QA teams to implement automated test plans and define validation methodologies for API deployments.
  • Set up a product support organization to lead deployments and provide post-deployment support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, or Engineering.
  • 9+ years of experience in IT, including 4+ years in implementing API Management and Enterprise Messaging Technologies.
  • 4+ years of experience with Web technologies and APIs, including REST, SOAP, JSON, OAS, RAML.
  • Deep understanding of messaging protocols such as MQTT, AMQP, XMPP, and SMTP.
  • Experience with industry-leading APIM products such as MuleSoft, Apigee, IBM APIC, or Kong.
  • Experience with Messaging solutions such as TIBCO EMS, Solace, Confluent, RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, AWS SNS/SQS.
  • Solid grasp of security considerations specific to messaging platforms.
