About the position

As a Technical Product Marketing Manager at Amazon Web Services (AWS), you will play a pivotal role in understanding customer needs and synthesizing data from various sources to drive product outcomes that exceed expectations. Your primary focus will be on simplifying and creating broad, portfolio-level value propositions that help customers understand how cloud technology can be effectively applied in their businesses. This role requires a deep understanding of both technology and business, allowing you to connect the dots between different AWS capabilities and services to ensure that we are building and marketing the right offerings to meet customer needs. In this position, you will leverage your extensive experience as a technologist who has worked closely with customers utilizing cloud capabilities. You will synthesize external and internal data from multiple sources, collaborating with AWS Product Managers across various services. Your responsibilities will include guiding feature prioritization, ensuring consistency across services, and developing compelling positioning and messaging at the portfolio level. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse set of AWS services, including Analytics, Developer Tools, Compute, Databases, Generative AI, Observability, and Security, based on your experience and interests. We are looking for individuals who thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with engineering teams to influence product outcomes while building value propositions that educate customers on the benefits of technology. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to operate at both a broad and deep level, understanding our technology with the same depth as our customers and thinking like both a technologist and a business leader. This role is based in Seattle, WA, but we are open to candidates in other locations such as Arlington, VA, Boston, MA, New York, NY, Portland, OR, San Francisco, CA, and Santa Clara, CA, with relocation offered from within the US to these locations only.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineering and product management to develop portfolio-level strategy documents to guide prioritization of AWS offerings and capabilities we build
  • Creation of positioning and messaging artifacts that will represent our offerings at a portfolio level
  • Analysis and synthesis of 1st and 3rd party data (including driving direct data gathering from customers) to define opportunities for our offerings
  • Acting as an advocate for customers within AWS during the product development process
  • Involvement in the generation of content artifacts (presentations, demos, etc.) that can be leveraged broadly to educate customers on our offerings
  • Working closely with other AWS teams to ensure these value propositions are articulated broadly and clearly
  • Open to some travel (up to 15%)

Requirements

  • 7+ years experience working directly with customers on adoption of cloud-based products and services
  • 7+ years working knowledge cloud-based architectures in one or more technical domains (e.g. Analytics, Developer Tools, Compute, Databases, Generative AI, Observability, Security, etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar field or equivalent experience

  • High level of comfort communicating effectively across internal and external organizations, and with executives
  • Professional experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS or other cloud platforms
  • A passion for learning and for helping others to learn
  • Hands-on experience with AWS
  • AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional certification
  • Prior Technical Product Marketing experience
  • MBA degree
