About the position

Are you interested in driving projects that accelerate how teams deliver high-quality features used by millions of customers on Amazon's Shopping website and mobile applications? Are you passionate about building systems that scale across the diverse and complex delivery models ensuring that teams meet the high bar while not requiring them to be experts in specialized customer needs? If yes, you should consider joining our Worldwide Stores Accessibility Team. We are launching a series of new services to enable builder teams across Amazon to deliver products that are born accessible and we are looking for a strong technical program manager to help revolutionize the way builders work to deliver great experiences for our customers with disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on and execute programs that scale across the entirety of our Worldwide Stores businesses and support thousands of teams worldwide.
  • Own management of the lifecycle of cross-functional programs.
  • Develop mechanisms and tooling that simplify the way teams build and test experiences that exceed expectations.
  • Govern our accessibility policy, define best practices, and drive strategic decisions.
  • Conduct internal and external risk assessments across 100+ partner organizations.
  • Define requirements for program tools that enable our central hub to assess, track, monitor, and report on the current state of accessibility.
  • Drive technology projects building systems that remove complexity from stakeholder interaction.
  • Lead projects to architect and design program tools and mechanisms for a large-scale and cross-platform environment.
  • Solve ambiguous problems and proactively identify and mitigate risks.
  • Break abstract goals into attainable, measurable work items.
  • Collaborate with engineering leaders to create program structure to track system-level goals.
  • Work across partner teams to collect business and program requirements.
  • Create, maintain, and communicate project status and metrics to stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present business reviews to senior management.
  • Provide a long-term perspective and context for business and technology choices.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience.
  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience.
  • 3+ years of software development experience.
  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience.
  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience.
  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules.
  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent.
  • Functional knowledge of web and mobile accessibility requirements and assistive technologies used by people with disabilities.
