About the position

Amazon is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join the Strategic Regulation Tech team within the Amazon Privacy Services organization. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with critical regulations by overseeing technical innovation and governance of customer data processing. The Senior TPM will act as a subject matter expert, lead technical design efforts, and drive implementation while managing dependencies and risks. The position requires collaboration with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to shape Amazon's privacy practices and compliance strategies.

Responsibilities

• Partner with senior engineers to map the origination, augmentation, and destinations of customer data across systems.
• Lead high-level and detailed technical design with senior engineers to create compliant and efficient architecture for enforcing user consent.
• Oversee scoping and funding of technical resources required to deliver the technical design across teams.
• Drive implementation of technical tasks, monitoring key dependencies and reporting risks/issues/blockers.
• Own a broad scope and plenty of opportunity to influence technical direction across Amazon business and engineering teams.
• Act as single threaded tech lead accountable for understanding and controlling end to end data flows from origin through destination.
• Set a comprehensive program portfolio to deliver an ambitious 3+ year vision of technical innovation.
• Engage with Principal Engineers, Engineering-Managers, and PMTs to reach decisions on hotly debated technical topics.
• Hold partner engineering teams accountable for setting and delivering ambitious goals that improve competitive practices within their services.
• Identify inter-system dependencies and align on then monitor paths to address them.
• Participate in quarterly business review series and s-team goal updates with Senior Vice Presidents.

Requirements

• 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
• 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
• 3+ years of software development experience
• 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
• Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
• Track record of successful technical program management
• Passion for working with technical and operational teams, especially in data privacy and data sharing
• Ability to set think big strategic direction on cross-service technical architecture while diving deep into tactical implementation decisions
• Ability to define clear and comprehensive technical requirements for engineering teams
• Ability to create effective, functional and efficient technical design incorporating inputs from dozens of tech teams
• Ability to self-organize across several programs each with multiple workstreams and to complete them on time with a clear focus on quantitative results

Nice-to-haves

• 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
• Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
• Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
• Master's Degree (preferably in business, technology, or policy)
• Data privacy/governance background preferred
