About the position

The Senior Technical Program Manager for Project Kuiper will oversee the program management of system-level development, integration, and testing for a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites aimed at providing broadband connectivity to underserved communities. This highly technical role requires a blend of hardware and software development experience, as well as the ability to navigate complex applications and solve novel problems. The position involves significant collaboration with multiple technical teams across various locations, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products while managing dependencies and trade-offs.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality products that optimize performance, mass, cost, manufacturing, and reliability of systems.
  • Coordinate the work with teams developing other systems as well as assembly, integration and tests.
  • Identify and manage the conduct of trade studies and analyses necessary to understanding performance and other aspects of the design.
  • Manage the development of complex hardware and software development.
  • Optimize the velocity of engineering development through the design and application of mechanisms.
  • Manage timeline, dependencies, and deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of hardware, software, system integration and test development of complex systems across the full product life cycle - concept to production.
  • 4+ years of experience in a technical lead, systems engineer, or technical program management role with significant experience architecting and integrating HW and SW into a complex system.
  • 4+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams delivering products on schedule.
  • Proficiency with at least one schedule tracking tools such as MS Project, SmartSheet or alternative.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with high volume manufacturing test methods, concepts and solutions.
  • Ability to lead interdisciplinary discussions between Hardware, Reliability, and Firmware teams to define and drive scope and clarity of work, and reach optimum system level trades.
  • Experience in high speed characterization of devices, operation of high speed and high frequency test equipment, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and high-speed oscilloscopes.
  • Experience developing high-performance systems for aerospace applications or systems operating in extreme environments.
  • Experience in automated testing and system characterization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Track record of successfully delivering complete systems (hardware, firmware, software) on time, to scope, with high quality.
  • Ability to regularly engage with senior stakeholders and influence across the organization.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with ability to work successfully across all engineering disciplines.
  • High sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.
