About the position

Alibaba Cloud Facility team is looking for a passionate, results-oriented candidate to drive the implementation of cloud facility projects. The ideal candidate should thrive in collaborative, cross-functional environments to manage both internal and external stakeholders to tackle the challenges in designing and building Alibaba cloud facilities. The program manager will be responsible for project oversight and review in architectural, electrical, mechanical, and IT equipment deployment by providing direction, coordination, and control on the team to ensure consistency with global technical standards and business goals. In this role, you will own the deployment of Alibaba's overseas cloud facility. You will partner with several stakeholders such as capacity planning, engineering, operation, procurement, and finance teams to ensure the successful delivery of infrastructure. Managing multiple vendors will be crucial to track progress, identify risks, and solve problems throughout the project. You will be responsible for project delivery within the targeted schedule, cost, and quality. Additionally, you will own initiatives to standardize the global process of project management and improve the deployment methodologies to optimize the schedule. Identifying defects or waste in our deployment processes will be part of your responsibilities, and you will drive new processes and software automation to eliminate these defects and prevent them from recurring without posing a risk to availability.

Responsibilities

  • Own the deployment of Alibaba overseas cloud facility.
  • Partner with stakeholders such as capacity planning, engineering, operation, procurement, and finance teams to ensure successful delivery of infrastructure.
  • Manage multiple vendors to track progress, identify risks, and solve problems throughout the project.
  • Be responsible for project delivery in targeted schedule, cost, and quality.
  • Own initiatives to standardize global process of project management and improve deployment methodologies to optimize the schedule.
  • Identify defects or waste in deployment processes and drive new processes and software automation to eliminate defects.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience managing projects in cloud facilities or comparable critical infrastructure.
  • 5+ years experience in Construction or Project Management.
  • 5+ years experience in Vendor Management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to think and react in a high energy, fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or a related technical discipline.
  • Expertise in large colocation deals, site selection for industrial-scale projects, real estate evaluation, acquisition, development, and construction, negotiating or managing utility agreements, financial modelling.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage trade-offs, evaluate new ideas with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven track record for being detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to self-motivate and follow-through on projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Able to speak Spanish.
