About the position

Next Pathway, recognized as one of Canada's hottest start-ups by the Globe and Mail, is seeking a skilled Senior Technical Project Manager specializing in Cloud/Data Migrations and Enterprise Data Warehousing (EDW). This role is pivotal in guiding our clients through the complexities of migrating applications and workloads to the cloud using our advanced automation technology. The ideal candidate will possess over 10 years of project management experience, particularly in managing risks associated with complex projects, and at least 5 years of experience leading multiple technical teams, potentially across various geographical locations. A strong technical background in cloud technologies, enterprise data warehouse concepts, data integration pipelines, and reporting is essential for success in this position. As a Senior Technical Project Manager, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive project and program management skills across various initiatives. You will facilitate meetings with key client staff to gather requirements, prepare detailed project plans, and manage the tasks of the entire team, including vendors and internal staff, to ensure milestones are met. Your role will involve tracking and monitoring the project budget, adhering to estimates, and following escalation procedures for any issues affecting project health. You will prepare weekly status reports to communicate current tasks, upcoming tasks, issues, risks, budget status, and milestone dates. Additionally, you will identify, track, and manage issues and risks, ensuring they are communicated to the appropriate leadership. Regular status meetings with team members and clients will be a key part of your responsibilities, where you will update stakeholders on project progress, issues, risks, and milestone dates. You will also ensure that teams have access to technical clarity during meetings and facilitate operational efficiencies within the development team to maximize deliverables. Your expertise in implementing processes, practices, and tools will help create efficient and flexible methodologies for project delivery. You will recommend improvements and drive alignment across IT teams within the same line of business, ensuring that all project management and Scrum skills are effectively utilized throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project and program management skills to various projects
  • Facilitate meetings with key staff from clients to gather requirements
  • Prepare a detailed project plan(s) of the task by project phases
  • Manage the tasks of the entire team (vendors, client, staff) to ensure the milestones are met for the completion of the project phases
  • Track and monitor the budget and consumption of the budget based on adherence to project estimates
  • Follow escalation procedures for matters relating to overall project health influenced by risks, issues and budget
  • Prepare a weekly status report to identify the current tasks, tasks to be completed next, issues, risks, budget and project milestone dates
  • Identify, track and manage issues and risks and bring them to the attention of the appropriate leadership
  • Facilitate regular status meetings with team members and client to update them on the project's progress, issues, risks and milestone dates
  • Ensure teams have access to technical clarity and focus during meetings / stand-ups
  • Facilitate operational efficiencies of the development team to plan maximum deliverables in an iteration
  • Responsible for removing the impediments and blocking issues for the team
  • Implements processes, practices, and tools that allow for multiple paths of delivery
  • Recommends improvements and drives alignment across IT teams within the same line of business

Requirements

  • 10+ years as a Project Manager managing risks inherent in leading complex projects
  • 5+ years leading multiple technical teams that may be geographically distributed
  • Technical familiarity with cloud technologies, enterprise data warehouse concepts, data integration pipelines and reporting
  • Previous experience in EDW, Datawarehouse Migration or Data Integration projects
  • Knowledge of agile methodology and frameworks (i.e. Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.)
  • Expert in estimation and planning for software development projects
  • Ability to understand the commitment to deliver the project on time and analyze, organize and prioritize work
  • Experience in matrix-managing multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience in sprint planning and agile development practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
