The Senior Project Manager is responsible for planning and delivering complex projects on time and within budget, utilizing either waterfall or agile methodologies. Throughout the lifecycle of each project, the Senior Project Manager will track project status and manage project teams, proactively mitigating risks and resolving issues effectively. For agile projects, this role includes acting as the Senior Scrum Master, which involves organizing and facilitating daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sizing sessions, backlog grooming sessions, and end-of-sprint ceremonies. Additionally, the Senior Project Manager will create dashboards and reports to showcase team productivity. Key responsibilities include coordinating and developing project plans, resources, and monitoring assigned projects to ensure they remain on schedule and within budget. The Senior Project Manager will engage and motivate cross-functional teams to meet deadlines and deliverables, while being accountable for delivering technical projects that align with business objectives. This role requires maintaining at least three complex projects simultaneously, mentoring Agile Project Managers, and ensuring effective adherence to SDLC governance by engaging with various organizations including architecture, legal, risk, security, compliance, delivery, and vendor management. The Senior Project Manager will also manage backlog grooming with cross-functional teams, develop and maintain the requirements backlog, and drive project execution planning to ensure development teams are set for success in their commitments. Furthermore, the role involves monitoring project health, managing interdependencies, performing retrospectives, and supporting the company's commitment to risk management and data integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and delivers complex projects on time and on budget using waterfall or agile methodologies.
  • Tracks project status and manages project teams, proactively mitigating risks and resolving issues.
  • Acts as Senior Scrum Master for agile projects, organizing daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and backlog grooming sessions.
  • Creates dashboards and reports to show team productivity.
  • Coordinates and develops project plans, resources, and monitors assigned projects to keep on schedule and on budget.
  • Engages and motivates cross-functional teams to meet deadlines and deliverables.
  • Accountable for delivering technical projects according to business objectives.
  • Maintains at least 3+ complex projects simultaneously.
  • Mentors and guides Agile Project Managers in daily tasks and escalated issues.
  • Engages with architecture, legal, risk, security, compliance, delivery, and vendor management to ensure adherence to SDLC governance.
  • Manages backlog grooming with cross-functional teams to ensure priorities and dependencies are understood.
  • Develops and maintains the requirements backlog, ensuring security and operational requirements are represented and prioritized.
  • Drives project execution planning to ensure development teams are set for success.
  • Proactively removes impediments for the project team to ensure continuous flow of work.
  • Monitors and communicates project health and manages project interdependencies by defining critical path milestones.
  • Performs retrospectives, drives improvements, and shares best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Agile, Scrum, project management, or related experience with a software development team.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Experience in managing technology projects and software development processes.
  • Proven ability to lead efficient agile teams and achieve business objectives.
  • Ability to build professional relationships within Project Management and cross-functional teams.
  • Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.
  • Demonstrated business acumen with knowledge of business issues, priorities, goals, and strategy.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, ownership, and pride in delivering quality results.
  • Applicable knowledge of the technologies used by the Scrum team.
  • Deep understanding of managing Sprint ceremonies and handling bugs/defects.
  • Advanced knowledge of Agile tools (e.g., JIRA).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate across all levels of the organization.
