About the position

The Sr. Technical Project Manager at Lumen will play a pivotal role in leading complex programs and developing integrated program plans that encompass multiple project deliverables. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying critical impediments that may hinder the achievement of project objectives. The successful candidate will coordinate projects and programs across various business groups to ensure timely delivery of objectives, effectively balancing Lumen's capacity to deliver new products, services, and technologies within established budgetary and scheduling guidelines. In this role, the Sr. Technical Project Manager will support the development of product builds and models, ensuring that all project stakeholders are aligned and working towards timely milestone completion. The individual will be responsible for communicating program status, risks, and issues to leadership, presenting options and recommendations for resolution. Managing one or more complex programs that include multiple interdependent projects, the candidate will validate planning scope, set accurate project milestones, and provide regular updates on project progress. Additionally, the Sr. Technical Project Manager will be responsible for monthly project forecasting to align with company revenue targets and will serve as the single point of contact for all project updates. This role also includes training new peers and taking a leadership role in developing and mentoring other Project Managers to enhance their project management acumen. The candidate will identify and document new process improvements and provide program management for major initiatives, preparing executive-level presentations or written reports as needed. As a subject matter expert, the Sr. Technical Project Manager will be a valuable resource for the team, contributing to the overall success of Lumen's projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex programs and develop integrated program plans that account for multiple project deliverables.
  • Proactively identify critical impediments to meeting project objectives.
  • Coordinate projects and programs across multiple business groups to ensure timely delivery of objectives.
  • Support the development of product builds/models.
  • Effectively communicate program status, risks, and issues to leadership, presenting options and recommendations for resolution.
  • Manage one or more complex programs encompassing multiple interdependent projects with separate deliverables, timelines, and objectives.
  • Manage large scale, integrated program plans, providing status and issues to executives and upper management.
  • Validate planning scope and set accurate project milestones.
  • Work with all project stakeholders to drive towards timely milestone completion.
  • Provide timely updates on projects and responsible for monthly project forecasting to align with company revenue targets.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for all project updates and responsible for timely issue resolution and project completions.
  • Train new peers and take a leadership role to develop and mentor other Project Managers.
  • Identify and document any new process improvements.
  • Provide program management of major initiatives and prepare executive-level presentations or written reports.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and team resource in one or more areas to benefit the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, Telecom, Finance, or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in telephony or equivalent progressive Project Management in a technical environment.
  • PMI/PMP or equivalent Project Management certification.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Project Management software.
  • Experience with resource management including identification of gaps and recommendation of options to keep projects on time and within budget.
  • Knowledge of business and technology work processes and the ability to use this knowledge when consulting across organizations.
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills, including the ability to summarize and concisely share key project information to all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, set direction, and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding and proven program/project management skills.
  • Outstanding ability to develop a strategic and tactical plan from a concept.
  • Outstanding ability to develop an integrated, cross-organizational program/project plan.
  • Strong ability to provide leadership/mentoring to other team members.
  • Proven ability to influence others and to build trusting relationships with clients and peers.
