About the position

As a Senior Technical Support Engineer specializing in Semiconductor manufacturing equipment, you will play a crucial role in providing customer support for onsite installations, repairs, and maintenance of photolithography semiconductor equipment, primarily in Hillsboro, Oregon. This position requires a full-time presence at your assigned office(s), worksite(s), or territory. You will undergo training in Austin, Texas, Hillsboro, Oregon, or Japan for a period of 1-3 months to ensure you are well-equipped to handle the responsibilities of the role. Your primary responsibilities will include checking and maintaining equipment to ensure it meets factory standard specifications. You will instruct customers on the operation and maintenance of the system equipment and serve as the company liaison for assigned projects, which may involve installations and major component replacements. You will perform complex repair maintenance or unit replacements according to factory procedures, both independently and collaboratively with other technicians. Providing technical support to customers and responding to inquiries regarding operational procedures, equipment malfunctions, and other technical issues will be essential to minimize equipment downtime and maintain positive customer relations. Additionally, you will be responsible for identifying and reporting equipment errors and status updates related to performance issues to aid in troubleshooting or maintenance. Accurate documentation of activities and periodic reporting will be required. You will also conduct training for customer personnel to ensure their proficiency in service and operations, working closely with other technicians in the field to troubleshoot and service equipment effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Check and maintain equipment within factory standard specifications.
  • Instruct customers in the operation and maintenance of the system equipment.

  • Perform complex repair maintenance or unit replacements according to factory procedures, both independently and collaboratively.
  • Provide technical support to customers and respond to questions regarding operation procedures, equipment malfunctions, and other technical issues.
  • Identify and report equipment errors and status updates related to equipment performance issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of activity and provide periodic reports.
  • Conduct training for customer personnel to ensure proficiency in service and operations.
  • Work with other technicians in the field to troubleshoot and service equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent experience (technical training, military training, or technical school).
  • 5 years of related experience in semiconductor manufacturing equipment support.
  • Experience or knowledge in optical, lasers, software, robotics, precision mechanical skills, or chemicals.
  • Knowledge of Linux operating system preferred for operating and troubleshooting the system.
  • Hands-on mechanical skills required.
  • Hands-on experience with electronic testing tools required.
  • Ability to work on equipment alone and as part of a team under challenging situations.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer support experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to travel and work flexible schedules.
  • Comfortable working in a cleanroom environment most of the day.

  • Additional experience or knowledge in optical, lasers, software, robotics, precision mechanical skills, or chemicals is a plus.
