About the position

Ambarella, the worldwide leader in AI vision, HD and 4K video, is on a mission to bring AI and computer vision to all types of devices, from security cameras to smart buildings to robots to autonomous cars. Our marketing team in Santa Clara is looking for a passionate individual to join our team and help us bring our AI vision to life. The Technical Writer and Copy Editor will work across all of our AI vision processing market segments—automotive, security, consumer, and IoT/industrial/robotics. This role involves interfacing with the marketing and engineering teams in the US and Asia to obtain key source material. The primary responsibility will be to edit, combine, organize, format, and streamline the source material into clear, effective documents that adhere to Ambarella's style guide and engage target audiences. As the role progresses, there will be opportunities to move into technical writing, which includes updating existing documentation such as datasheets and API documentation, in addition to SDK materials as product changes occur. The successful candidate will be expected to proofread and edit documents in Microsoft Word and Adobe InDesign, ensuring that all materials are polished and professional.

Responsibilities

  • Proofread and edit documents in Microsoft Word
  • Proofread and edit documents in Adobe InDesign
  • Edit, combine, organize, format, and streamline source material into clear documents
  • Adhere to Ambarella's style guide in all documentation
  • Engage with marketing and engineering teams to gather key source material
  • Update existing documentation such as datasheets and API documentation as needed
  • Create writing/editing samples that demonstrate consistent formatting and typographical conventions

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of experience in technical copy editing/documentation
  • Experience in editing technical material written by non-native English speakers
  • BA/BS in English, Communications, Computer Science, EE, or equivalent
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Expert in MS Word/Open Office and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign
  • Writing/editing samples from previous work that demonstrate engaging headlines and subheadings, proofreading, and comprehensive editing for spelling, grammar, and brand consistency

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working for a semiconductor, systems, or software company deploying SDKs to multiple customers
  • Experience documenting APIs
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator
  • Highly detail-oriented, multi-tasking, self-motivated individual
