About the position

The Sr. Technical Writer at GeoLogics Corporation will be responsible for creating and validating technical documentation for Navy customers and sailors. This role emphasizes the importance of clear and accurate documentation in the defense and national security sectors, ensuring that front-line decision makers have access to essential tools and information about systems. The position requires collaboration with various teams throughout the product development lifecycle to produce high-quality documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Creating technical procedures, user guides, release notes, troubleshooting guides, and descriptive documentation.
  • Working closely with engineering, product, and business teams throughout all phases of product development, including design, development, testing, and operation.
  • Ensuring that customers have access to the right documentation at every stage.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a DoD issued Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in a specialized field or area and minimum of 2 years of demonstrated excellence generating technical documentation for an informed audience (or a Master's degree).
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and PDF file type formats.
  • Understanding and demonstrated practice of documentation revision/version control.
  • Experience reading and interpreting software and hardware user documentation, complex technical products, and highly structured certification processes.
  • Experience working in digital collaboration environments such as Teams and SharePoint.
  • Basic development proficiency in applying technical best practices to documentation systems.
  • Demonstrated passion for excellent documentation and user experiences.
  • Clear and persuasive writing and in-person communication skills for a variety of audiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with document automation platforms, for example, PandaDoc.
  • Solid knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to tailor communication to target audience through effective listening and interviewing skills.
  • Solid understanding of DoD MIL standards and style guides.
