About the position

S4 Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Writer to support critical projects at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). This role involves providing technical and engineering support, risk analysis, and integrated logistics for various initiatives, ensuring the operational capability of military forces and platforms. The Senior Technical Writer will be responsible for the research, preparation, writing, and editing of technical documents, ensuring compliance with established guidelines and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Research, prepare, write, and edit technical documents for publication, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with technical documentation guidelines and standards.
  • Gather, analyze, and compose technical information into clear, readable documents for technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Handle classified documents, including marking, handling, and tracking in accordance with security protocols.
  • Utilize experience with U.S. Navy/Joint programs and the E3 engineering and technology environment to effectively communicate technical concepts.
  • Compose technical documents such as user's manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports in accordance with established guidelines and standards.
  • Edit documents to ensure grammatical correctness and consistency, and conduct research to ensure the use of proper technical terminology.
  • Gather, analyze, and compose meeting minutes and action items to accurately capture discussions and decisions.

Requirements

  • Eight (8) years of demonstrated experience in the research, preparation, writing, and/or editing of technical documents for publication.
  • Experience in gathering, analyzing, and composing technical information for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in handling classified documents, including marking, handling, and tracking.
  • Demonstrated experience with U.S. Navy/Joint programs and familiarity with the E3 engineering and technology environment.
  • Ability to compose various technical documents including user's manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports.
  • Familiarity with technical documentation guidelines and standards.
  • Strong editing skills with the ability to ensure grammatical correctness and consistency.
  • Proficiency in conducting research to ensure the use of proper technical terminology.
  • Experience in gathering, analyzing, and composing meeting minutes and action items.
  • Secret security clearance.
