About the position

The successful candidate will manage the Mid-Atlantic territory for Akoya Biosciences, focusing on the technical sale of the PhenoCycler® and PhenoImager® product portfolios. The role involves achieving sales targets, developing strategic business plans, and fostering strong customer relationships while providing superior support throughout the product adoption cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned sales territory, including presenting Akoya's full solution, including instrument, reagent, and contract services.
  • Achieve individual sales goals assigned to the territory.
  • Develop, implement, and execute strategic business plans specific to the territory.
  • Communicate/manage/forecast sales activities to management through Salesforce.com and other reporting tools.
  • Manage accounts and opportunities within assigned territory.
  • Prospect for new lead generation and sales opportunities within assigned territory.
  • Support equipment inventory management.
  • Coordinate and execute equipment demonstrations.
  • Manage post-demonstration follow-up.
  • Take accountability for reagents and contract services sales targets and work with sales counterparts to maximize revenue.
  • Generate and follow up with customer quotations.
  • Present and defend price, credit, and T&C's in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Assess and actively communicate Revenue Recognition opportunities.
  • Build strong customer relationships.
  • Work closely with Field Application Scientists and local Service colleagues to provide superior customer support.
  • Develop a strong, working technical knowledge of the entire Akoya product portfolio, scientific applications involved, and end markets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in biology or similar Life Science discipline; PhD and/or MBA in scientific discipline preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years sales specialist experience in the scientific or life science industry.
  • High Value (> $250K) technical capital equipment sales experience in the scientific or life science industry, preferably with immunohistochemistry, digital pathology, or microscopy/imaging sales experience.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of cellular, IHC, and/or pathology applications and imaging instrumentation.
  • Experience in selling directly to Pathology & Life Science/Research Laboratories, Cancer Research Centers, Academic Institutions, Pharma, and Biotech accounts.
  • Sales experience with Reagents and Contract Services is a plus.
  • Demonstrated customer commitment through regular follow-up and timely complaint resolution.
  • Responsible for abiding by ethical sales practices in accordance with corporate policy.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Proactive mindset with strong sense of responsibility and ownership.
  • Willingness to travel 50-75% overnight is required.
  • Valid Driver's License.
