About the position

The Senior Test Instrumentation Engineer at Amentum will be responsible for the setup, calibration, and operation of advanced optical measurement systems and instrumentation for structural strength testing. This role involves collaboration with NASA project teams to ensure mission success and the delivery of high-quality reports and presentations. The position emphasizes safety, professional development, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion within the workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Setup, calibrate, and operate Trilion ARAMIS camera systems to measure 3D position of discrete points.
  • Setup, calibrate, and operate Trilion ARAMIS camera systems to measure full field of view strain and deflection.
  • Setup, calibrate, and operate Correlated Solutions VIC-3D camera systems for full field of view strain and deflection measurements.
  • Interface ARAMIS and VIC-3D systems with ET30 SLTMAS data system software for data recording.
  • Coordinate with NASA project level customers to ensure mission success.
  • Work with a diverse team to design, develop, and perform structural testing on space flight qualification hardware.
  • Participate in safety meetings, task meetings, design reviews, and test readiness reviews.
  • Develop and deliver reports and presentations to support customer requirements.
  • Perform safety and certification training as required.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field with 25+ years of experience in the aerospace field.
  • Knowledge of cameras, lighting, lenses, cabling, calibration techniques, and speckle patterns for achieving specified field-of-views and accuracies.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with data acquisition systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software applications.
  • Basic instrumentation application experience with strain gauges, thermocouples, and displacement devices.
  • Familiarity with Machine Vision Image Processing/Correlation concepts and methods.
  • Experience with National Instruments LabVIEW development software and/or MATLAB for instrumentation acquisition and control.
  • Code generation experience in Windows or Linux operating systems.
  • Software quality control experience using QT or GTest libraries.
  • Experience with Raspberry Pi/Arduino, Python, or C#/C++.
  • Experience with National Instruments Hardware.
  • Desire to conduct detailed hands-on work in a lab testing environment.
