About the position

The Sr. Trust Officer is a key banking professional responsible for servicing trusts and investments, focusing on relationship management with clients that may span generations. This role involves managing both private and corporate trust accounts, ensuring compliance with legal standards, and fostering collaboration with internal and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for trust account servicing, including ongoing account reviews and discretionary distribution reviews.
  • Build and maintain relationships with advisors, clients, and attorneys.
  • Assist in researching legal issues related to trust administration.
  • Knowledge of state and federal statutes governing trust administration.
  • Interpret and execute actions as advised by governing documents including Wills, Trusts, Codicils, Amendments, FLP, Contracts, etc.
  • Accountable for servicing and retention of existing accounts.
  • Supervise and monitor new account establishment and funding.
  • Work with internal trust team, attorneys, and accountants to ensure timely and accurate estate settlement.
  • Review documents to assist in determining dispositive provisions and approve payment of final expenses.
  • Coordinate gathering of material/documents for final income tax return and estate tax return.
  • Assist in settling other asset flow into trust/estate and ensure proper distributions to beneficiaries.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with beneficiaries and advisors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of relevant trust administration experience.
  • Strong collaboration skills with internal and external partners.
  • Top-tier communication skills.
  • Trust investment knowledge and/or experience with brokerage and/or delivery of trust services through alternative channels.

Nice-to-haves

  • JD and/or Masters degree preferred.
  • CTFA, CFP, CFA, CES, or equivalent preferred.
  • Business growth experience.
