About the position

PayPal is seeking a Senior UX Researcher who is passionate about understanding user needs and is eager to contribute to the creation of user-centered experiences. In this role, you will play a vital part in uncovering deep insights that inform product design and enhance user trust and security. Your work will involve employing a variety of research methods, including qualitative and mixed methods approaches, to gather data that will influence product development and design decisions. You will be responsible for conducting research studies from start to finish, which includes identifying research questions, defining participant samples, selecting appropriate methodologies, and executing studies with a focus on quality and detail. As a Senior UX Researcher, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including design, product management, and marketing, to ensure that the voice of the customer is represented in all aspects of product development. You will present compelling insights and recommendations to various stakeholders, driving customer-centric decisions that align with PayPal's mission of democratizing financial services. Your role will also involve advocating for user-centric approaches within the Experience Design community, exploring best practices, and continuously seeking feedback to enhance your skills and methodologies. This position requires strong communication and collaboration skills, as you will be influencing stakeholders and sharing your findings across the organization. You will report to a Senior Manager of UX Research and be part of a diverse Global Experience Design Organization that values different perspectives and backgrounds, fostering innovation and inclusion in product design. Your contributions will help shape the future of PayPal's products and services, ensuring they meet the needs of a diverse global customer base.

Responsibilities

  • Identify research opportunities that inform product and design strategy.
  • Independently execute research studies from beginning to end, including defining research questions and participant samples.
  • Present compelling insights and recommendations to multiple teams and leaders across the organization.
  • Understand how various research functions and data sources contribute to the product development lifecycle.
  • Act as a liaison between design, product management, and marketing teams.
  • Champion the voice of the customer in workshops and design sprints.
  • Shape the Experience Design community by advocating for user-centric approaches and exploring best practices.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset by actively seeking feedback and experimenting with new approaches.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 4-5 years of experience or Master's degree with 3-4 years in user experience, design, research, or related fields.
  • Experience across digital products and platforms, with a focus on financial services or e-commerce.
  • Proficiency in a variety of research methods including card sorting, tree tests, diary studies, surveys, interviews, and usability testing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with remote, field, and lab settings for research studies.
