About the position

The Sr. User Experience Researcher at Varian will play a crucial role in enhancing the design and functionality of oncology solutions by conducting comprehensive user research studies. This position focuses on understanding customer needs and experiences to inform product development, ensuring that the solutions are user-centered and effective in a medical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and executing high-quality research to define long-term product goals.
  • Building trust with partners to foster effective relationships.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of industry problems and competitor solutions.
  • Designing research plans with clear goals and questions aligned with stakeholders.
  • Planning user research initiatives for the product line.
  • Contributing to the user research process and documentation.
  • Conducting various research studies including contextual inquiry, user interviews, focus groups, and usability tests.
  • Communicating research data and outcomes to stakeholders with clear KPIs and recommendations.
  • Leading user-centered design activities in compliance with medical regulations.
  • Collaborating with senior designers and researchers for feedback and quality assurance.

Requirements

  • Masters in psychology, Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in user research focused on software and hardware product design.
  • Excellent knowledge of User Centered Design processes and their flexible application across projects.
  • A portfolio showcasing relevant work is required for application consideration.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
  • Experience in the healthcare domain with knowledge of design control and regulatory practices is preferred.
  • Familiarity with agile software development methods is highly desired.
  • Excellent analytical abilities to understand user behavior.
  • Experience collaborating with designers, product managers, and engineers in dynamic environments.
  • Proven track record of delivering commitments on time.
