About the position

AWS Field Experiences (AFX) is seeking an innovative Senior UX Designer to help shape the direction of a strategic initiative supporting the rapidly growing AWS Sales organization. This role is pivotal in delivering exceptional customer experiences and requires a candidate who thrives on the challenge of designing scalable solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of design thinking methodology and interaction design, coupled with excellent communication skills. The Senior UX Designer will adopt a nimble, creative, and pragmatic approach, demonstrating endless curiosity and a passion for customer-focused experiences. As a storyteller, the designer will influence business strategy by creating experiences that reflect empathy for users and a profound understanding of their daily challenges. In this role, you will be responsible for leading design efforts for both new and existing solutions, overseeing the end-to-end experience from conception to execution. You will negotiate priorities, align on customer problems, and articulate the product vision. Comfort with designing complex workflows and balancing diverse user perspectives across various technologies is essential. The position requires a self-starter who can work autonomously while actively collaborating with cross-functional teams, peer designers, senior management, and stakeholders. Building and maintaining positive relationships with all stakeholders and end users is crucial. You will contribute to the overarching organizational strategy, ensuring that designs integrate seamlessly into a cohesive user experience. Familiarity with key functions that measure user experience health, both quantitatively and qualitatively, is important, as is the pursuit of new opportunities to address user needs. As a leader of leaders, you will scale design processes across multiple solutions and the organization, driving a high level of focus and excellence in design quality. Your work will encompass the full spectrum of UX design, from exploration and understanding through planning, design, and execution, ultimately making sellers more effective and efficient in their daily tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design for new and existing solutions, responsible for the end-to-end experience from big picture conception to execution.
  • Negotiate priorities and achieve alignment on customer problems and product vision.
  • Design complex workflows and balance divergent user perspectives across various technologies.
  • Work autonomously while actively collaborating and communicating with cross-functional teams, peer designers, senior management, and stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain healthy and positive relationships with all stakeholders and end users.
  • Contribute to the overarching organizational strategy, producing designs that integrate seamlessly into a single pane of glass.
  • Drive familiarity with key functions that measure the health of the user experience and pursue new opportunities to work backwards from user needs.
  • Scale design processes and mechanisms across multiple solutions and organization-wide.
  • Raise the bar on design quality and inspire passion in others.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of UX designer or interaction designer experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in human-computer interaction (HCI) or related discipline.
  • A portfolio demonstrating past work experience across all stages of user experience design and deliverables.
  • Strong foundation and understanding of design thinking practices, usability principles, and techniques.
  • Highly proficient using design software (e.g., Figma, Sketch, InVision, Photoshop or similar).
  • Hands-on experience creating user flows, low/high fidelity designs, and prototypes.
  • Familiarity with interaction design and information architecture.
  • Working knowledge of responsive design, design systems, and grid principles.
