About the position

The Senior UX Researcher will play a crucial role in the Amazon Robotics UX team, focusing on enhancing user experiences for robotics platforms and operations management tools. This position involves collaborating with various stakeholders to evaluate and improve the performance of tools used by fulfillment network associates, mechanics, and managers. The researcher will lead multiple projects, guiding technologies from concept through implementation, and will be a key point of contact for cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Forge solid partnerships with end users and stakeholders such as engineering, business leadership, and operations.
  • Define, implement, and improve scalable research mechanisms that function without direct supervision.
  • Curate flexible and adaptable research methods for all stages of product maturity and the design lifecycle.
  • Propose guidelines for research approaches and advocate for their reasoning.
  • Prioritize design recommendations to maximize impact on product performance and business KPIs.
  • Implement contracts and mechanisms with external partners to maintain quality and design intent.
  • Drive research strategy for multiple mid-to-large-sized programs in collaboration with technical and contracted partners.
  • Create and pitch north star UX visions, influencing product strategy with qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Champion user-centered design culture and best practices within the UX team and across cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in UX/User Research.
  • Experience with qualitative, quantitative, attitudinal, and behavioral methods.
  • Experience designing and running original experimental research on digital and physical products and services.
  • Understanding of the design process and integration of research at each phase.
  • Ability to independently drive multiple concurrent projects in an agile environment.
  • Experience researching and developing experiences for global markets.
  • MA/MS in Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Behavioral Economics, or related work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience leading small to medium teams as a design or project lead.
  • PhD in Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Behavioral Economics, or a related field.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Experience working with Industrial Designers on tangible workflows.
  • Skill in data analysis, data visualization, and knowledge management tools (e.g., Tableau).
  • Skill in developing rapid UI prototypes and data collection tools.
  • Strategic approach to UX research with a passion for translating data into impact.
  • Passion for understanding innovations in behavioral science and UX design.
  • Ability to uncover root causes of research results and deconstruct product interfaces.
