About the position

The Senior UX Researcher at Amazon Robotics will lead evaluative research projects that cover both physical and digital product portfolios throughout all stages of product development. This role involves collaborating with UX Designers, Product Managers, Program Managers, and Engineers to assess product performance and quality, while also planning for ongoing evaluation and improvement. The researcher will generate and recommend research mechanisms that enable continuous measurement of the product portfolio, assisting partners and stakeholders in making impactful feature decisions that benefit users.

Responsibilities

  • Forge solid partnerships with end users and stakeholders such as engineering, business leadership, and operations.
  • Define, implement, and improve scalable research mechanisms that can function without direct supervision.
  • Curate flexible and adaptable research methods for all stages of product maturity and the design lifecycle.
  • Propose guidelines for research questions and advocate for their reasoning.
  • Prioritize design recommendations to maximize impact on product performance and business KPIs.
  • Implement contracts and mechanisms with external partners to maintain quality and design intent as we scale with vendors.
  • Drive the research strategy of multiple mid-to-large-sized programs through collaboration with technical and contracted partners.
  • Create and pitch north star UX visions and influence product strategy, presenting qualitative and quantitative data to support design recommendations.
  • Champion user-centered design culture and best practices within the UX team and across cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in UX/User Research.
  • Experience with qualitative, quantitative, attitudinal, and behavioral methods.
  • Experience designing and running original experimental research on digital and physical products and services.
  • Understanding of the design process and how research integrates at each phase.
  • Ability to independently drive multiple concurrent projects in an agile environment.
  • Experience researching and developing experiences for global markets.
  • MA/MS in Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Behavioral Economics, or related work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience leading small to medium teams as a design or project lead.
  • PhD in Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Behavioral Economics, or a related field.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills; ability to distill complex ideas into concise narratives.
  • Experience working with Industrial Designers on tangible workflows.
  • Skill in data analysis, data visualization, and knowledge management tools (e.g., Tableau).
  • Skill in developing rapid UI prototypes and data collection tools.
  • Strategic approach to UX research with a passion for translating data into bottom-line impact.
  • Passion for understanding the latest innovations in behavioral science, research methods, and UX design.
  • Ability to uncover root causes of research results and deconstruct product interfaces from a system-wide view.
  • Solid grasp of quantitative data analysis and inferential statistics.
