About the position

At Zappos, we are looking for a passionate and innovative individual to join our team as a User Researcher. This role is pivotal in collaborating with Product, Design, and Marketing teams to creatively uncover and investigate new opportunities that will help define product roadmaps, vision, and strategy directly related to prioritized business initiatives. As a User Researcher, you will design and conduct foundational, formative, and evaluative qualitative and quantitative user research, including field observations, interviews, and usability studies, both remote and in-person. Your advocacy for the customer will ensure that their needs and perspectives are considered in UX design decisions, product development initiatives, and long-term business strategies. You will synthesize and communicate research findings to drive understanding, user empathy, and informed business decisions across the organization. Delivering high-quality insights in a fast-paced work environment is essential, as is educating the organization on opportunities revealed by your research. This role requires a self-motivated individual who thinks like an entrepreneur, constantly innovating and driving positive change while delivering exceptional results. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Marketing teams to uncover and investigate new opportunities for product roadmaps and strategy.
  • Design and conduct qualitative and quantitative user research, including field observations and usability studies.
  • Advocate for the customer by ensuring their needs are considered in UX design and product development.
  • Synthesize and communicate research findings to drive understanding and user empathy across the organization.
  • Deliver high-quality insights in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Educate the organization on opportunities revealed by research and ensure the right questions are being asked.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience conducting user research.
  • Understanding of research methods strengths and weaknesses.
  • Experience planning and conducting mid-to-large scale research projects across various product phases.
  • Ability to conduct qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in written, verbal, and visual communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience conducting research at scale.
  • Experience with mixed methods focusing on strategic research.
  • Ability to prioritize projects based on business impact and level of effort.
  • Passion for understanding the latest tools in behavioral science and UX design.
