About the position

The Sr. VDC Specialist at HNTB will play a crucial role within the Digital Transformation Solutions Group, focusing on advancing Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) for various infrastructure projects. This position involves leading and managing VDC and BIM efforts, providing technical leadership, and ensuring the successful execution of projects across all phases, from planning to operations. The specialist will work closely with clients and project teams to develop innovative solutions that meet both immediate and long-term needs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the thought leader and technical lead in the development and implementation of VDC and BIM for horizontal and vertical technologies.
• Produce, lead, and manage VDC and BIM for complex civil infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, rail, transit, and aviation.
• Lead project teams to ensure successful planning and execution of VDC and BIM on projects of medium to large scope.
• Assist clients in determining VDC and BIM technology solutions that meet their needs, including defining system requirements and developing specifications.
• Recommend enhancements to HNTB technology, methodology, and process standards to improve deliverables and processes.
• Stay informed on industry trends to align VDC and BIM efforts with client needs and project team requirements.
• Develop and configure asset attribution from design to operations hand-off into Enterprise Asset Management Systems (EAMS).
• Lead teams in the development of 4D, 5D, and potentially 6D solutions.
• Assist in the development of project scopes, fees, and proposals for VDC and BIM services.
• Support 3D visualizations teams in creating workflows for 3D renderings and animations.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or certificate in CAD, BIM, VDC, or a related field with 9 years of relevant experience, or
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field with 7 years of related experience, or
• 11 years of relevant experience in lieu of education.
• Knowledge of advanced VDC concepts such as BIM levels of development (LOD), clash detection, and coordination.
• Proficiency in software such as Revit, Navisworks, SketchUp, Lumion, and Enscape.
• Experience with VDC technology initiatives such as laser scanning, drones, and virtual reality.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and quality.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field.
• Experience with web development frameworks such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript.
