About the position

The Sr. Vulnerability Analyst in the Division of Information Technology at the Federal Reserve Bank is responsible for leading the enterprise vulnerability management program. This role involves utilizing cybersecurity tools and techniques to protect the Board's IT assets, conducting technical assessments, and collaborating with other cybersecurity professionals to develop and implement effective cybersecurity solutions. The analyst will also be involved in threat intelligence analysis, incident response, and the development of data analytic software to enhance the Board's cybersecurity posture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of cybersecurity tools such as firewalls, proxies, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Conduct technical and analytical assessments to support information security engineering decisions.
  • Analyze threat intelligence to inform threat hunt operations and investigate potential intrusions.
  • Emulate threat actor tactics to develop detection strategies and mitigations.
  • Develop programs that apply statistical models to identify anomalous network activity.
  • Identify and analyze system-generated logs for forensic analysis of cybersecurity incidents.
  • Lead the implementation of vulnerability scans and ensure systems are adequately patched.
  • Develop data analytic software and scripts to automate cybersecurity processes.
  • Manage cybersecurity projects focused on detecting and responding to intrusions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on vulnerability management.
  • Advanced knowledge in cybersecurity fundamentals, threat analysis, and incident response.
  • Experience with vulnerability and patch management technologies such as Qualys and Tenable.
  • Ability to work with TOP SECRET / SENSITIVE COMPARTMENTED INFORMATION.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience mentoring less experienced team members in vulnerability management.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments like AWS and Azure.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to explain complex technical subjects to non-technical audiences.
