About the position
The Sr Z/OS Systems Programmer (MFA Admin) is responsible for leading and supporting complex database upgrade projects, installation, testing, implementation, maintenance, and enhancements of system software products. This role involves planning, configuring, and managing core database products to support the County's database architecture and business needs, with a focus on legacy systems and various database management systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support complex database upgrade projects.
- Plan, install, configure, test, implement, and manage core database products.
- Verify the health of all databases.
- Provide database administration technical consulting for application and operations teams.
- Perform maintenance on production database systems and conduct technical reviews.
- Evaluate and select new or fine-tune existing DBMS software.
- Consult with project development teams on database design recommendations.
- Develop logical and physical database designs and create overviews of these designs.
- Conduct database capacity planning and develop backup and recovery procedures.
- Monitor database performance and space, and perform reorganizations, replication, compression, and partitioning.
Requirements
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a Systems Programmer/DBA.
- At least three (3) years of experience in a lead role.
- Bachelor's degree in an IT-related or engineering field.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with IBM MFA V2.3, SMP/E, Z/OSMF, HCD, HMC, ACF2, DB2, and Mainframe tools.
