About the position

The Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Product Owner at Leidos plays a crucial role in leading the development and implementation of reliability-focused features and processes for the Navy's largest IT services program. This position involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure that SRE practices align with business goals, enhancing the resilience and performance of critical systems. The SRE Product Owner will manage a team of 6-8 employees, advocate for automation and proactive monitoring, and drive the overall strategy and roadmap for SRE initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a product vision and roadmap for SRE initiatives.
  • Translate business and operational requirements into product features and technical requirements for SRE teams.
  • Provide backlog management, iteration planning, and decomposition of user stories.
  • Assess business value and prioritize all stories to ensure focus on maximum value work.
  • Establish an infrastructure automation vision and roadmap in alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the SRE team and business stakeholders.
  • Create User Stories and Acceptance Criteria to communicate customer needs to the development team.
  • Participate in team demos, retrospectives, and Inspect and Adapt sessions.
  • Act as a key partner in incident response and analyze incidents to identify root causes.
  • Drive automation, monitoring, and alerting initiatives to enhance system resilience.
  • Ensure clear documentation and communication of product requirements and updates to stakeholders.
  • Champion Agile development processes and provide technical guidance to team members.
  • Create and publish strategies and guides for SRE platforms.
  • Review new work proposals impacting product roadmap.
  • Collaborate with software developers and operations engineers to improve the software delivery process.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree and 8-12 years of relevant experience or Masters with 6-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen and possess an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Minimum of DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II Certification required prior to onboarding.
  • Ability to support program execution in classified environments and access SIPRNet on short notice.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%, including potential OCONUS travel.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills for technical analysis and executive briefings.
  • Ability to comprehend and solution capabilities that satisfy customer requirements.
  • Experience with Agile and DevSecOps/SRE concepts and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).
  • Experience administrating/maintaining SRE platforms via Ansible playbooks.
  • Strong experience in automating tasks with scripting languages like PowerShell or Python.
  • Working knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and DISA STIGs.

  • Previous work experience providing support to the NGEN-NMCI program.
  • Previous people leadership and mentoring experience.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO).
  • Advanced/Professional level vendor certifications (Azure).
  • ITILv4 and Agile SAFe certifications or applicable experience.
