About the position

The Design Civil Engineer will be responsible for gathering raw data and arranging it into a workable form as part of project teams on civil engineering projects. The role involves learning the project development process, including planning, design, specifications, plans, reports, and construction observation. The engineer will communicate effectively with supervisors and project managers, attend various meetings, and gradually take on more responsibilities in business development and project management as they gain experience.

Responsibilities

• Gather raw data for arrangement in workable form.
• Perform assigned tasks as part of project teams on civil engineering projects.
• Learn the project development process including planning, design, specifications, plans, reports, and construction observation.
• Communicate frequently and effectively with supervisors and project managers, providing updates and progress during all phases of projects.
• Attend company meetings, project meetings, and client meetings regularly.
• Prepare proposals and participate in interviews for securing work for the firm, with responsibilities increasing with experience.
• Understand the role of the project engineer and the owner's on-site representative on construction projects.
• Participate in professional organizations and community leadership programs.
• Travel and out of town stays will be required periodically.
• Work overtime, especially during the construction season.
• Understand and follow company CADD procedures.
• Write technical reports.
• Help develop cost estimates.
• Verify requests for proposals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• Experience with MS Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Proficiency in computer-aided design applications such as AutoCAD and Microstation.
