About the position

The Engineering Co-Op position at SRG Global in Troy, MI, offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the automotive industry. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to apply engineering best practices in the design and manufacturing of exterior automotive components. The co-op will participate in various activities, including tool trials, product validation, and customer meetings, while developing skills in CAD and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with domestic and global cross-functional teams to apply best practices in the design and engineering of exterior automotive components.
  • Attend tool trials and participate in assembly and gauging of finished goods to validate design and engineering theories to real-world practices.
  • Gain hands-on experience with respect to product assembly.
  • Measure parts to validate customer dimensional expectations based on SRG Global manufacturing capabilities.
  • Take part in the product validation process including all required part testing.
  • Apply lessons learned in design and testing to future development projects.
  • Travel to SRG Global manufacturing locations to gain exposure to products and manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in customer meetings and build events to ensure that design, quality, specifications, particularly dimensional expectations are achievable and being met.
  • Use and develop proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly development of Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Use and develop CAD skills to evaluate 3D data and designs.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an engineering degree program.
  • Able to work full-time during the school year for either part-time or in rotating 12-week periods.
  • Able to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Able to travel within the US and Canada with Enhanced Driver's License or Passport.
