About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer position is a critical role within the organization, focusing on supporting all manufacturing engineering activities in assigned cells. This includes implementing lean manufacturing initiatives, managing engineering change orders (ECOs), and ensuring operational metrics are met. The role requires collaboration with team members to enhance production processes and maintain efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Support all manufacturing engineering activities within assigned cell(s).
  • Implement and facilitate lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Manage engineering change orders (ECOs) and assign inventory locations.
  • Conduct contract reviews and create shop floor instructions.
  • Evaluate standards and complete capital and facility upgrades.
  • Work effectively as a cell team member to achieve operational metrics.
  • Represent manufacturing engineering in daily cell meetings and weekly plant metrics meetings.
  • Design or specify equipment/tooling/racking required for manufacturing support.
  • Review engineering change orders (ECOs) and support production implementation.
  • Update and maintain plant layouts.
  • Facilitate capital and equipment upgrades, installations, or modifications.
  • Conduct process observations to ensure time standards are fair and consistent.
  • Maintain resource plans for production activities.
  • Validate routings and submit routing change requests to process planning.
  • Support process planning and production engineering.
  • Participate in internal and outside supplier certifications and audits.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in engineering or technology.
  • Previous manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, Excel, and MRP processes.
  • Ability to analyze data and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized.

Nice-to-haves

  • APICS or CPIM certification.
  • Previous Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle and formal APICS training.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
