About the position

ADNET is seeking to hire a User Support and Data Entry Clerk to work at the NASA Space Science Data Coordinated Archive (NSSDCA) at Goddard Space Flight Center. This position is crucial for facilitating user requests for data, primarily through email communication. The User Support and Data Entry Clerk will collaborate with other staff members to identify and provide the correct data to users, ensuring that they receive the necessary information in a timely manner. In cases where the requested data is available through online services or other archives, the clerk will refer users accordingly. In addition to handling user requests, the role involves the input of information related to spacecraft and associated products, such as experiments, data collections, and personnel, into a database as required. This data entry is essential for maintaining accurate records and supporting the overall mission of the NSSDCA. The position also includes assisting in the ingestion of digital data into NSSDCA's permanent archive, which is a critical function for preserving scientific data for future use. Furthermore, the clerk will be responsible for ordering supplies necessary for the office operations. The work requires specialized software and hardware, and it is a full-time on-site position, emphasizing the importance of being physically present at the Goddard Space Flight Center.

Responsibilities

  • Take requests for data from users primarily via e-mail.
  • Work with other staff to identify and provide the correct data.
  • Refer users to online services or other archives as appropriate.
  • Input information about spacecraft and related products into a database.
  • Assist in the ingestion of digital data into NSSDCA's permanent archive.
  • Order supplies as needed.

Requirements

  • General office skills (typing, filing, copying).
  • General computer skills (e-mail, browsers).
  • Ability to follow explicit directions and perform routine activities.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency (LPR) required, with US residency for the past 3 consecutive years.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to work well with science users and the general public.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat.
