About the position

The SSBO Pattern Finisher role involves preparing patterns for assembly and soluble cores for pattern molding, ensuring quality and dimensional conformity through various techniques including wax welding and repairs. The position requires adherence to safety standards and quality inspections, contributing to the production of high-quality aerospace components.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patterns for assembly and soluble cores for pattern molding.
  • Wax weld multiple components using fixtures to maintain dimensional conformity.
  • Repair wax patterns and soluble cores according to quality standards.
  • Read tech cards and engineering instructions to assemble wax components into acceptable patterns.
  • Modify patterns or soluble cores using hand tools and wax materials.
  • Inspect modifications with gauges and measuring devices.
  • Insert ceramic cores in wax patterns to maintain dimensional integrity.
  • Replace broken features by wax welding or reconstructing missing areas.
  • Fill voids and reform damaged contours using stock wax.
  • Remove flash and other surface imperfections using hand tools.
  • Fill or patch negatives using paint wax and other materials.
  • Complete dimensional integrity restoration and plugging of holes as per tech cards.
  • Identify patterns with specified serial pads and numbers.
  • Adhere to plant and department safety rules and operate equipment safely.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and train less skilled personnel.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience as a Wax Cleaner or Wax Assembler 'C' or equivalent experience and training.
  • Working knowledge of cleaning techniques, methods, materials, and tools.
  • Ability to use simple to moderately complex measuring devices and fixtures.
  • Ability to follow complex written and verbal instructions.
  • Good manual dexterity.
  • Ability to lift objects up to 35 pounds and use lifting devices for heavier objects.
  • Ability to work in conditions with exposure to noise, fumes, crowding, abrasions, cuts, and chemicals.
