About the position
The Engineering Summer Internship at General Dynamics Electric Boat offers college students a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in the defense industry, specifically in submarine innovation. Interns will work alongside expert engineers on various engineering activities, contributing to projects such as the Columbia Class design and enhancements to Virginia Class submarines. This internship requires a commitment of at least 8 weeks during the Summer 2025 season and is not a remote opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Conduct strength analyses using Mathcad and FEA.
- Evaluate supplier and shipyard non-conformances.
- Develop system requirements.
- Oversee supplier equipment development and manufacture.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- US citizenship is required.
- Must be able to successfully pass a medically supervised drug screen and background check.
- Must be enrolled full-time at a college or university.
- Must have completed at least their Freshman year prior to the start of the internship.
- Must be available to work 40 hours per week for a minimum of eight consecutive weeks between May 2025 to September 2025.
- Pursuing a Bachelor or Masters of Science Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Marine Engineering.
