About the position
The Computational Sensing Team at MERL is looking for an intern to assist in the development of estimation algorithms for single-photon lidar. This role is designed for a PhD student with expertise in statistical modeling and computational imaging, providing an opportunity to collaborate with experienced researchers and contribute to innovative lidar reconstruction algorithms.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with MERL researchers to design new lidar reconstruction algorithms.
- Conduct simulations related to single-photon lidar.
- Prepare results for publication.
Requirements
- PhD student status in a relevant field.
- Strong background in statistical modeling and estimation theory.
- Proficiency in programming with Python or MATLAB.
Nice-to-haves
- Detailed knowledge of single-photon detection and lidar.
- Experience with Poisson processes.
- Hands-on optics experience.
