About the position

The Stable Value Controller - Sr Analyst position at MetLife is responsible for GAAP and Statutory financial reporting and analysis within the Retirement Income Solutions segment. This role supports U.S. Business Controllers and involves the timely and accurate reporting of financial results, analysis of financial data, and collaboration with various internal units to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting. The position requires strong accounting knowledge and proficiency in financial management tools, with a focus on delivering insights that support business planning and projections.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accounting and reporting of Stable Value.
  • Reporting of GAAP and Statutory monthly/quarterly financial results, including income statements, balance sheets and earnings by source in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Analysis of financial results including comparisons to prior periods and projections.
  • Provide data and analysis to Product management to support projections, business plan, actuals etc.
  • Support the completion of the Retirement Income Solutions Quarterly Financial Supplement (QFS) - including Stable Value.
  • Work on special projects, i.e. STATUTORY/GAAP Reconciliation by products.
  • Work closely with other units including Valuations, Product Management, SOX, Internal and external auditing to provide accurate and timely data and analysis.
  • Work on metrics to support analytics.
  • Support MD&A process for different entities by creating support files as needed.
  • Work on any other special projects assigned.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Accounting, Finance or an applicable field of expertise.
  • General Ledger functional knowledge and proficiency.
  • Knowledge of Essbase and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM).
  • Ability to work independently on projects from start to finish with a sense of urgency behind all tasks.
  • Strong Excel skills with Pivots and Vlookups.
  • Strong accounting knowledge required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or an applicable field of expertise.
  • CPA/MBA or working towards it, is a plus.
  • Proficient in US GAAP and STAT.
  • Insurance industry experience is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze facts and develop logical conclusions.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office software packages (Excel and Word).
  • Effective time management and prioritization.
  • Ability to work within tight time constraints and multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork and collaboration.
  • Self-motivated, ambitious and dedicated.
  • Detail Oriented, analytical, and organized.
