About the position

The Stadium Manager is responsible for the complex professional, administrative, and technical management of the Durham County Memorial Stadium. This role involves overseeing the stadium's operations, marketing, and public relations, while ensuring effective management of staff and resources. The position requires strategic planning for the stadium's enhancement and expansion, as well as budget preparation and monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, manages and participates in the operation of the Durham County Memorial Stadium.
  • Develops and oversees strategies for marketing, promoting and publicizing the Stadium.
  • Solicits corporate sponsorships of venues and operational services.
  • Develops marketing brochures, news releases and other marketing materials.
  • Conducts and prepares the Stadium Authority Board meeting agenda.
  • Assists in the creation of rules and regulations governing the operation of the Stadium.
  • Prepares and presents recommendations for stadium rental, usage fees and rates to the Stadium Authority for approval.
  • Negotiates contracts for the management of concessions, capital constructions, supplies and equipment purchases, facility repair, and other services on behalf of the Stadium Authority.
  • Schedules stadium events and ensures all fees are collected.
  • Creates and implements a strategic plan for the enhancement, expansion and continued use of the stadium.
  • Prepares written operational reports and monitors an operational and revenue budget.
  • Supervises the County Facility Use program for renting conference room spaces owned by the County for non-profit use.
  • Creates contractual agreements and prepares rate studies for facility rental fees.
  • Prepares recommendations for additional services or event types for executive management consideration.
  • Ensures a 10-year capital program plan is created for both programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, marketing, construction management or a related field.
  • Five years of progressively complex project, facilities or business management experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of public and business administration principles and practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of budgeting, personnel, purchasing, and accounting practices and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of marketing and business promotion principles and practices.
  • Advanced construction management and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of field maintenance and landscaping principles and practices.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders.
