About the position

As a Staff Embedded Firmware Engineer at GreenWave Radios, you will play a pivotal role in developing embedded firmware for innovative radio solutions, particularly in the 4G/5G cellular infrastructure sector. This position involves optimizing digital signal processing algorithms and integrating firmware drivers for radio components, contributing significantly to product launches and advancements in radio technology.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms for both transmission (TX) and reception (RX) in 4G/5G physical layers, focusing on timing synchronization for RF symbols.
  • Design, develop, and integrate embedded firmware drivers for radio front-end, transceiver, and baseband modules.
  • Implement an extensible hardware abstraction layer to support various radio hardware configurations using a common API.
  • Design and implement test mode interfaces for hardware characterization, calibration, and tuning procedures to optimize system performance.
  • Design and optimize device control transactions to meet strict timing requirements and enable efficient transmit operation while maintaining RF spectrum emissions requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of eight years experience required.
  • MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of DSP techniques for TX/RX in 4G/5G physical layers, including timing synchronization for RF symbols.
  • Experience with the development of Lower Physical Layer (Layer 1) and/or RF Driver firmware using C, especially for RF calibration, for at least one wireless technology, preferably 5G NR or LTE.
  • Experience with RF test equipment measurements for signal quality analysis in at least one wireless technology standard.
  • Knowledge of RF-related alarms and Key Performance Indicators.
  • Understanding of maintenance plane protocols, e.g., ORAN-MP / ORI / other CPRI SW protocols.
  • Strong coding skills in embedded C and Python.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior ARM or similar System on a Chip (SoC) product development experience.
  • Good understanding of cellular wireless protocols (MAC/PHY).
  • Ability to work productively and independently.
  • Experience using GIT and Jira tools.
  • Team player with a strong sense of urgency to meet product needs on time.

Benefits

  • Base pay range of $140K-$225K depending on market, skills, qualifications, and experience.
  • Pre-IPO stock options.
  • Comprehensive group health plan.
  • Matching 401(k).
  • Training reimbursement.
  • Various paid leaves including vacation, sick, holidays, maternity/paternity leave, and jury duty.
