About the position
Ameritech Facility Services is seeking a Staff Accountant to perform full-cycle accounting activities such as maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable functions, job costing, month-end close, journal entries, preparation of financial reports, and financial analysis. Candidate should have job costing experience, be highly organized, capable of multitasking, have advanced excel skills, and possess a strong work ethic.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to GAAP and proper accounting standards/policies
- Prepare weekly, monthly reports, and ad hoc reports
- Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
- Interact and follow-up with managers regarding job contract values, estimates, and job financials
- Research job costing issues
- Prepare General Ledger reconciliations
- Prepare and enter journal entries as needed
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and support schedules
- Perform monthly variance analysis of expenses
- Assist with implementing new strategies and process improvements when necessary
- Participate in or perform ad-hoc projects as needed
- Calculate commissions and review for accuracy
- Assist external auditors with requests and inquiries on an as needed basis. Create and maintain schedules.
- Maintain files and archive documents
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with a strong understanding of GAAP accounting
- Strong Excel and analytical skills a must
- Understanding of job costing and project accounting
- Self-starter, highly organized, and able to work well with individuals at all levels
- Strong written, oral, and visual communication skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Bachelor's degree with major in accounting is required
