About the position

Figure is seeking a driven and detail-focused Staff Accountant to handle essential monthly accounting functions and contribute to process improvements as the company scales rapidly. This role involves overseeing accounts receivable, preparing journal entries, and ensuring compliance with GAAP while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Record journal entries and oversee accounts receivable (AR) for various accounts including cash and credit cards.
  • Perform account reconciliations to ensure data accuracy and identify discrepancies, proposing solutions as needed.
  • Support the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and conduct analyses to validate data integrity.
  • Develop and update accounting policies and procedures to ensure GAAP compliance and strengthen internal controls.
  • Assist with external audits by preparing necessary documentation and providing ongoing support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement and resolve issues.
  • Drive process improvement and design automation solutions for real-time financial data management.
  • Contribute to various ad hoc projects as the company grows.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Accounting preferred.
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience in an accounting role.
  • Proficiency in Excel required; familiarity with SAGE, WorkDay, Bill.com, and Expensify preferred.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP.
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Proactive approach to process improvement for operational efficiency.
