About the position

The Staff Accountant position at a market-leading privately held marketing and logistics company in North Dallas involves a variety of accounting responsibilities that are crucial for the financial health of the organization. The role requires a detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple accounting tasks efficiently and accurately. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for completing weekly accounting for all marketed plants, ensuring that financial records are up-to-date and accurate. This includes preparing month-end journal entries as needed and performing balance sheet reconciliations and analyses to maintain the integrity of financial statements. In addition to routine accounting tasks, the Staff Accountant will work extensively with the current logistics and financial software used by the company. This role also involves preparing and circulating daily, weekly, and monthly reports for senior management and accounting staff, which are essential for informed decision-making. The Staff Accountant will analyze income statement accounts as necessary and assist in preparing for financial audits, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The position also requires the Staff Accountant to research accounting pronouncements and understand how they affect financial reporting and the company's business model. Flexibility is key, as the Staff Accountant may need to back up other accounting positions when required, demonstrating a collaborative spirit and a willingness to support the team as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Complete weekly accounting for all marketed plants
  • Prepare month end journal entries as needed
  • Balance sheet reconciliation & analysis
  • Work extensively in current logistics/financial software
  • Prepare and circulate daily/weekly/monthly reports for senior management and accounting staff
  • Analysis of income statement accounts as necessary
  • Help prepare for financial audit
  • Research accounting pronouncements as they affect financial reporting and changes in our business model and presentation
  • Back up other accounting positions when needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
  • 1-3 years in accounting
  • Auditing Experience a plus
  • Strong Excel & worksheet organizational skills
  • Solid reconciliation and analysis skills
